Did you know?
Is alcohol detrimental to weight loss?

We have all heard that a glass of wine a day is good for the heart, but how much can alcohol deter us from losing weight?

First of a all lets look at how many calories are in alcohol:

Beverage            Serving Size                Calories
Beer
Light                            12 oz.                        105
Regular                       12 oz.                        150
Dark                            12 oz.                        200

80 proof liquor
Rum, Gin, Vodka,        4 oz.                         65
Tequila, Whisky
Have a Healthy Day,

Wine
Red                               4 oz.                         80
White                            4 oz.                         75
Champagne                4 oz.                          85
Port                              4 oz.                          90

Cocktails
Martini                         4 oz.                          140
Daiquiri                        4 oz.                          122
Marguerite                  4 oz.                          168

As you can see a few drinks a day can add up to be a considerable amount of calories.  If you are trying to lose weight these added calories can definitely hinder your weight loss efforts.

Our body also has a unique built in feature that burns alcohol calories before burning fat calories.  So alcohol will spare your fat stores.

Remember that 3500 calories = 1 lb. of fat so if you drink 100 calories a day of alcohol that is almost equal to 1 lb. of fat in a month.

Keep alcohol to a minimum if weight loss is your game.
