Did you know?

My whole family is over weight so I guess I was born to be heavy.  Is that true?

No it is not true.

Genetics do play a role in your predisposition to gain weight and be heavy.  But lifestyle is the key factor.

Only 3% of obesity is caused by a genetic defect or medical problem that causes people to be overweight, like Type I diabetes or thyroid problems.  So the other 97% of weight problems are due to lifestyle choices.

More likely than not if your family is over weight and so are you, then you probably have the same lifestyle.  Your eating habits and level of activity are probably somewhat the same.

Unfortunately it is harder for some people to stay in shape and not be over weight compared to others.  But the fact is that more likely than not you were not born to be fat.

Remember from previous fit tips about calorie intake and calorie output and how much fat to eat and how much exercise to do.

Keep these things in mind and be sensible and you to can have a healthy body weight.

Have a Healthy Day,
